Cat Kites
These first cat kites that I made were based on a second grade assignment where we had to make kites, and my creation was a cat kite. I was so fascinated with what I created that I made about twenty, and suspended them all from the ceiling in my bedroom. I would stare up at them and pretend that they were always flying. I wanted to perfect them, and eventually make them into real flying kites. In a fit of rage, I tore them down and threw them away, never to make one again until this performance where I instructed my classmates to make them with me. As I was teaching everyone to make them, I was trying desperately to remember how I first made them. Some things were easy to remember, but the method of cutting the paper and the exact shapes were not clear to me. As I have slowly produced more of these kites, I have regained some of my memory loss about the production of them, and hopefully soon, I will be able to make the pattern I initially used as a child.
