Collaboration with Mom

The role of my mother has always been a huge play in the background and creation to my artwork.  With this performance, I wanted to explore her perspective and shaper of my history of my childhood and my present day.  This mixed media performance involved three videos that played in the back part of the room, which displayed videos of my mother and I interacting with my childhood cat and her two new dogs.  The front of the room had a small room made for my mother that the audience was able to participate in.  She was storytelling about different childhood memories that I had from her perspective, while outside of the wall; I slept with my partner, exposed in our underwear for everyone to gaze upon.  This piece spoke about the issues with history, the unawareness of separation, and the longing to connect to memories forgotten.
